White Ribbon Day 2017

3rd November 2017. Reading Time: 1 minutes Media. 837 page views.

25th November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, also known as White Ribbon Day

"Over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week in Australia as a result domestic violence”

White Ribbon Day is an internationally recognised day of action, and calls upon all Australians to stand up, speak out and act to stop men’s violence against women.

"We want people to know that violence against women in any way is unacceptable."

White Ribbon Australia encourages residents to get involved in White Ribbon Day activities. Attending local events, taking the White Ribbon Oath and wearing a white ribbon throughout November are easy ways to make a difference.

Funds raised go towards supporting White Ribbon’s national primary prevention initative, which aims to stop violence before it occurs, through education programs in schools, workplaces and the broader community.

White Ribbon is committed to building an Australian community where every woman lives in safety, free from all forms of men’s abuse.
